What is the best used meat slicer to buy? And how much should i pay?

So you're in the market to buy a used meat slicer but you have a few questions first. Im happy to say you already made one correct decision. Buying a quality used slicer is far more preferable than wasting your $$ on a brand new, shiny piece of junk. Yes you can get a new slicer for three or four hundred dollars that will last you a year at the most or you can get a used machine for that same cost which can last you the life of your business. So what used machine should you buy? The top 5 are Hobart, Berkel, Globe, Bizerba or Fleetwood. These brands are all good and more importantly when they do need a repair, most service techs are familiar with them and have their parts in stock unlike some of these Chinese made machines which usually don't even have a brand name much less a parts catalog. Just make sure to run the machine before you buy it. You're listening for any excess noise which would indicate worn out gears and bearings and can be a costly repair. Possibly still worth it if the asking price is low enough, like $50-$150

So what is the best used slicer on the market? In my opinion, that honor goes to the Hobart 1612. It is gear driven and has a strong motor, able to cut through any cheese or meat you can throw at it. It is a true workhorse and you can find it all over the internet for $500 or less
